Broadway in 2032: TEDxBroadway looks to the future

What will Broadway be in twenty years? Well, Damian Bazadona, founder of Situation Interactive, Broadway producer Ken Davenport, and Jim McCarthy, CEO of Goldstar were especially interested in the answer. The three have organized an event to help shine some light on the question and hopefully get some answers. Today, January 23, some of the most interesting people in academics, entertainment, marketing, customer service and beyond will gather to answer the question: “What’s the BEST that Broadway can be twenty years from now?” They will share their vision of what the industry will become over the next couple decades.

TEDxBroadway, which will be held at off-Broadway’s New Worlds Stages, includes discussions and presentations by entrepreneurs, producers, artists and business experts— including Jujamcyn Theaters president Jordan Roth, Sleep No More producer Randy Weiner, two-time Tony Award-winner and former Lincoln Center Director Gregory Mosher,  cultural communications guru Patricia Martin, and digital customer service trailblazer Frank Eliason. The event will also include performances by actor, writer, musician Matt Sax and musical theater writer and concert performer Joe Iconis, as well as a video presentation from Neil Patrick Harris.

Video of the event is likely to be made available later.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to ignite profound discussion and connection in a small group. The local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” TED supports world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world’s leading thinkers and doers are asked to give revolutionary talks in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California, and TEDGlobal is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
