Memphis the Musical celebrates Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, the 2010 Tony Award winning musical, Memphis, will be hosting a talkback series celebrating the impact minorities have had on the entertainment industry. The Inspire Change Talkback Series begins Thursday, February 9th and will follow the 7pm performance. Each talkback will feature a guest moderator along with cast members from the show.

The lineup has already been secured. Tracy Inman, Director of The Ailey School, will moderate the first talkback (February 9th). Inman began his dance career as a student at The Ailey School and also was a member of Ailey II. He has toured with Cats and with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The talkback is also scheduled to feature several current Ailey students.

On Thursday, February 16th, the talkback will be moderated by Dave Marsh and will discuss minority influence on music. Marsh is an American music critic, author, editor and radio talk show host of three shows on Sirius/XM Radio.

Julie James, the host of “Broadway Names with Julie James” on Sirius/XM, will moderate the talkback on February 23rd. James also produces and hosts “Sirious/XM Live on Broadway” each week in Times Square, featuring Seth Rudetsky and Broadway performers. She will discuss theater and the role minorities have played in the advancement of all facets of the industry, from casting, to writing, to both past and present Broadway shows.
